Hello and welcome. Today is another quickie post but I just had to show you the latest find for my “Needlework Supplies” section in my Etsy shop Old Raven.
Ever since I was a little kid, I have been in love with dragons. And I’m talking the fierce, fire-breathing, eat knights for breakfast type dragons. And look what I found…
This is the most amazing cross stitch kit I have ever run across, even without it being a dragon kit. Made by DMC – THE name in needlework supplies – this kit is absolutely huge!
Packed in a box that’s 13″ x 9″ x 2.5″ is a treasure trove of cross stitch yumminess. I also think that this kit was made for a Chinese, certainly foreign, market. This is definitely not a US kit.
The chart book is a spiral bound notebook – seriously! (Sorry for all the exclamation marks, but I just can’t get over the size of this kit.) There’s 28 pages of chart here.
And look at the detail involved – this is just one small section of this dragon – OMG. The pages are heavy weight glossy cardstock and in vivid color and clearly coded for easy reading.
There’s two organizer cards already loaded and ready to go.
The fabric is a 10 ct with pre-printed easy to follow grid work AND the edges of the fabric have been surged so there’s no messy fraying to fuss with.
The kit also includes five additional packs of floss for the main body of the dragon (are you getting a sense of just how big this dragon’s going to be yet)? There’s also a packet of thread snips, needles, needle threader, thread puller and more – WHAT !?! – this kind of stuff is never included in American kits!!!
But there you go, this is just such an amazing kit.
And I saved the best for last – the size of the fabric measures in at 34″ x 29″. This project is going to be HUGE. When this baby is finished you’re going to get it matted and framed and hang it over your couch so everyone can admire your talent as a needle artist.
This kit just blows my mind, not only is it the most gorgeous dragon I’ve ever seen it’s the most unusual, luxuriant kit I’ve ever seen.
