Hello All. Hope your week is going well and if it’s like mine – busy! Can you believe there are just a few more days left to the month of August?
I’m trying very hard to push a routine of taking pictures of new stock to get listed in my Etsy shop – Old Raven – and once I get my listing completed to also make a corresponding post here on my blog. It does seem like so much time slips away between the photos, shop listings, blog postings, packaging items, post office runs and all the rest that goes with owning an online shop that I fear actual time in the craft room is seeming more and more rare. But I love having my Etsy shop and I also love sharing my art projects here on my blog so I guess I’ll just have to eat my Wheaties, take my vitamins and get to work!
This is my latest shop listing – a pair of Vintage Cast Iron Dolls. These two ladies are solid cast iron (heavy, too).
They are pioneer figures or perhaps pilgrims, Amish or Quaker? The little girl is only 3″ tall and the mother is not quite 5″.
There’s some very nice details to these two figures with their layered clothing, sense of motion and they are obviously hand-painted including their facial features.
The little girl is in good shape with just a few paint chips from time and use. The mother has a bit more of a patina of age with a number of chips on her front side including a chip on her nose.
But that’s all part of the allure of this pair – these are old dolls that have come down through the years and I love there look of age. Wouldn’t they look perfect next to a potted plant of a windowsill in Country kitchen?
If you would like to take an even closer look just click on the link below to go right to their listing in my Etsy shop:
Thank you for viewing my Antique and Vintage Treasures and if you like my craft projects – then the next one should be up shortly – stay tuned. – Kriss
