As many of you know, I have a shop called Old Raven on the online selling platform Etsy where I sell my handcrafted creations and crafting supplies, as well as, a multitude of Vintage treasures that I feel compliment my “distressed” style in my art. I’ve decided to share more of my new listings for my shop here with you on Old Raven Creates. But don’t worry – this will still be an arts & crafts blog where I show the latest projects under construction in my craft room with “how to’s, tips and techniques, product information and general crafting mojo”.
Here’s the latest edition to my Vintage Collectibles line. This is a wall sconce from the 1930s-40s. It’s made of cast metal in a laurel leaf wreath design.
It has it’s original deep ivory paint but time has added a few chips here and there which, I’m sure most will agree, only adds to the lovely patina of age.
The electrical fixtures are made of Bakelite – check out the beautiful molded accenting on the socket and switch knob!
This sconce is meant to be hung on the wall and the light it provides is perfect for accent lighting or perhaps as a subtle light in the bedroom.
This light could easily slip into a myriad of decors including: Boho, Shabby Chic, Country, Farmhouse, Craftsman or, in my case, totally eclectic.

Thanks for looking – and an update on craft room project status – I now have three things going at once: a Steampunk Brontosaurus Dinosaur, a Steampunk Hat/Storage Box and an Astrological Apothecary Cabinet. I’m not sure just how that happened. Stay tuned.
What a cool piece!
