This is what has taken up most of my time last week – Apothecary Style Bookends. What I like most about these is they are multi-purpose. Not only do they keep a row of books nice and tidy, those are drawers, twelve of them, and they can hold quite a bit of stuff like office supplies, jewelry, trinkets, collectibles, etc. Not done with the surprises yet, though. They’re also reversible/ two-sided. Just turn them around and you have a whole new look to this pair of bookends!
How great is that? And the pretty paper on the front of the drawers is from my collection of Vintage Wallpaper. The side with the little brass drawer pulls is a serene Oriental Evergreen pattern that spreads across both bookends for a lovely scene. The other side is a collage of twelve different Vintage wallpapers for a more eclectic look.
Running across the top and down the sides is yet another type of wallpaper – Anaglypta. This is a heavily textured wallpaper that’s meant to be painted, which I did, and then accented with Gold and Copper Metallic Inks. I love how these came out and with the two sides of color ways to choose from they can fit in most any room’s decor. They are now listed in my Etsy shop!
Where did I start with this project? Kaisercraft! This is an Australian based company that sells to the US. They carry lots of goodies, but as I’ve mentioned in other blogs, I love their Beyond The Page line of products. This is how the bookends begin. It’s an unassembled “kit” but the creative possibilities are as deep as your imagination. So, Craft On!
